NY400 Week / Holland on the Hudson presents Pioneers of Change, a festival of Dutch design, fashion and architecture on New York's Governors Island to celebrate 400 years of Dutch-American friendship. House 5B: Bowery / Bouwerij The luxury of silence and care: Driessen & Verstappen, Arthur Elsenaar & Taconis Stolk	About Driessens & Verstappen The Amsterdam based artist couple Erwin Driessens and Maria Verstappen have worked together since 1990. After their study at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, they jointly developed a multifaceted oeuvre of software, machines and objects. Their research focuses on the possibilities that physical, chemical and computer algorithms can offer for the development of image generating processes. Driessens & Verstappen have participated in numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums. Additionally, they give lectures and presentations at universities, art academies, festivals and conferences in the Netherlands and abroad. www.xs4all.nl/~notnot		About Arthur Elsenaar Arthur Elsenaar is an artist, hacker and inventor of electro-facial choreography. Currently he is finishing his Ph.D. research in the UK on the artistic potential of the computer-controlled human face. His work has been shown on numerous exhibitions and conferences and he has become an ardent advocate for "freedom of facial expression", the liberation of the human face from the tyranny of the human brain. About Taconis Stolk Taconis Stolk is a conceptualist and meta-modernist, educated in media arts and intermediary composition at the Dutch Royal Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Arts. Since 1993, he is working (for WLFR and Formalism in Amsterdam) on a wide range of media projects — which have been exhibited, performed and published on many international occasions. www.bublspace.com
